Community Art Installation Project
Taman Jurong Zone D, Singapore

“Our Memories, Pieced Together” is a community arts project, done in collaboration with Community Artist Joy Ho and residents of Taman Jurong Zone D. The project is aimed at transcending the illusory space of traditional art works and integrating art with architecture and the larger environment. It brings residents together to co-create art pieces that signify the coming together of a community, as well as the complementary nature of each individual who make up the neighbourhood and community.

The project makes use of the iconic puzzle-like motif spotted around common areas in Zone D, which serves as a point of convergence, a representation and a common visual identity for residents in the community to belong to. Taking the form of archways and wall features in the common areas, the recurring motif, bears a striking resemblance to a puzzle piece. Further developing the idea of puzzles and its ability to assimilate seamlessly into a complete piece, “Our Memories, Pieced Together” art installation pieces together both the various milestones of Taman Jurong’s history as well as the various people making up the community living in the neighbourhood.
