Garden of Joy is a community art project led and conceptualised by artist Jaxton Su, which involves a series of co-creation workshops with the Bukit Canberra community, utilising everyday recyclable materials such as plastic bottles and plastic bags for art making. Drawing inspirations from the abundance of nature around Bukit Canberra and its green conservation efforts, the participants learnt to create craft works that resemble the imaginary flora and fauna of a mystical garden, as they expressed their own imagination, personalities and narratives within their colourful creations. With the outcome curated and assembled together on a fabricated sculpture, a charming installation resembling a psychedelic tree canopy is formed. Reflecting vivid hues when the sunlight shines through it, the artwork is set to add vibrancy to Bukit Canberra as it brings out its unique identity.
